Victoria’s Secret Bares Haute Holiday Schemes

Over 30 sets of wings glided down the catwalk during the 2011 Victoria’s Secret Fashion show in New York. Although the extravaganza took place on November 9, it aired last night on CBS.

The 69 piece collection was broken down into 6 themes: Ballet, Super Angels, Passion Play, Angels Aquatic, I Put a Spell on You and Club Pink. Each look took part in the 2 million Swarovski Crystals worn and definitely escalated GLAM to the next level. Every year the show gets bigger, better and more creative, as with the new whimsical Christmas color pallets and themes.

The show not only made me perform a body fat check in the mirror, but it also jolted my holiday decorating spirit. Because the winter holiday decorations are temporary, this is the best time to step out of the box and adorn our homes with over the top decor. Here are a few trendy options that wowed the runway, and can definitely transform any space. The color selections provided are from Sherwin Williams.

This season, the cool hues are in. Luckily these Blues will have you anywhere but down.

Traveling a slight notch on the color wheel, the Purple and Pinks prove to be popular options with a powerful affect.

Red will always make a return every Christmas, but this year, it’s a turn for the better.

The elegance of monochromatic and neutral holiday décor is breath taking. The metallic silver, gold, and bronze along with the classic white and black prove to be staples for any design, whether in fashion or interiors.

Inspiration is checked off my Wish List, and it’s now time to get to work in my home. Stay tuned for the progress of my Holiday Home transformation and inexpensive DIY solutions. Can anyone guess my color pallet? (I’m slightly embarrassed that it’s so predictable)

AMA Kitchens

The 2011 American Music Awards (AMA) aired Sunday, November 20.  The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly all appeared on the Red Carpet event, but only a few served as inspiration for timeless interiors. With the Thanksgiving holiday less than 48 hours away, now is a great time to look at America's Most Appetizing kitchens and how glamour can be successfully incorporated into the heart of the home.

The opulent kitchens by the Italy based company, Brummel, is the perfect harmony. The artful details and must have appliances truly exhibits a successful combination of style and function. “Like the work of a great musician, every Brummel kitchen is the product of passion. It’s a melody which is born of inspiration and becomes a reality,” says Brummel  CEO, Francesco Stragliotto.
Metallics are making a strong statement in today’s fashion and have become a bold, yet popular neutral.

The dazzling Artisan Papillon kitchen by Brummel proves the same stands for kitchens.

The ability to stylishly hide and show the functional tools and appliances, is every designer's dream course. Brummel manages to serve these options on a silver platter.

The lovely lacquered finishes with genius glossy and matt contrasts are the perfect combo for stainless steel tops and surfaces.

The classic dresses of glamour is definitely shown in the Grand Gourmet R Collection by Brummel. The elegant black glossy lacquer underlined by silver details is a deliciously timeless combination, regardless of the occassion.

The pop of red in the accessories adds interest to the space. This affect can be achieved by incorporating inexpensive and accessible fruits, vegetables and florals.  Change them seasonally or based on various occassions to spice things up. In this case, cranberries are common in the winter seasons and add a festive touch.
Speaking of cranberries, I cannot wait to have Cranberry Sauce with my Thanksgiving dinner.....YUM!

Beyonce's Baby Haute Nursery

The gender of Beyonce and Jay Z’s unborn bundle of joy has been said to be a Girl.  The information was leaked by cousin, Kelly Rowland, but has yet to be verified by the soon-to-be parents.

Nevertheless, the luxurious 2,200 square foot nursery in their NYC Tribeca apartment would be a dream to dwell as well as design. Beyonce’s trendy style with a glamorous twist would set the tone for an adult designed nursery while still remaining suitable for a Diva in training.

One of Beyonce’s favorite colors is gold.  It’s no wonder the Diva is seen on several occasions rocking the trendy metallic combined with crèmes, whites and platinum. So why not incorporate this color pallet in the nursery with a splash of pale pink.

It is almost certain the chic House of Dereon bedding collection will be translated to nursery bedding keeping with the glitzy elements.

Because Beyonce is always hip to the latest fashion, I think she will be keen on the newest trend in neutral and white nurseries. These rooms serve as great backdrops for pops of color integrated through the infamous toy clutter.

With the nursery underway, the next business in order is the name. Any suggestions?

This week’s red carpet for the 2011 Country Music Awards was all about the bling. In the words of designer Donna Moss, Bling Is My Thing! And fortunately this year’s holiday décor follows suit. From glitter and satin to velvet and sequin accessories, adding the sparkle and glitz to any space is accessible and affordable without leaving the comfort of your home.

Happily Ever Dining

Entertainment news is having a field day reporting on the Kim Kardashian/Chris Humphries divorce and the sad song 72 day marriage. However, I want to draw attention to one positive outcome of the most talked about 2011 Celebrity “Fairy Tale" Wedding.

There is no denying the black and white affair set a new bar for elegant dining. With the Thanksgiving holiday approaching, I think this is perfect timing to look at the details a little closer.
